Aldevaria

Aldevaria, (Kars Malûlki to the Mel) the continent where most of the Human nations have been baseded, is usually defined as the area west of Arceleron, north of Aeloth and east of the Shattered Isles. The Isle of Albion is also off the coast of the Old World and is similar in its situation to the land of the Fjordwalkers, being neither a part of the continent or entirely separate from it.

Aldevaria is home to the nations of the Aldevarian Kingdom, the forest of Tears, and the lawless brutal lands of the Kaer'Ist and Naga'Thus, as well as the Dwarven Principalities. In the past, before the rise of humans, the continent was ruled by Dwarves and Beastfolk, and ruins of ancient structures built by these races still scatter the coastlines and high mountains.

The different nations of the continent are rarely allied, and although relations between the different states generally tend to be cordial, they have been known to go to war against each other. While there are political rivalries over things like trade and resources, which can provide a great source of wealth, the near-constant threats posed to the nations make working together an occasional necessity. Aldevaria has been invaded many times over the years: Kaer'Ist Deathmarches from the Endless Sands to the west, Naga incursions from the south, raider attacks from their lairs in the Forst of Tears, unrelenting armies of the Undead, and large scale raids by Meldari fleets have all threatened to destroy one or all of the holdings of mankind. However, human lives are relatively short, and over the generations the memories of these events fades into myth and legend, and they become nothing more than stories to scare children with at bedtime.

Geography

Westernmost of the continent, Dynasty's Dawn is the seat of Royal power and the richest, most cosmopolitan region in all of Aldevaria -- and not just because the Aldevarians claim thus.

Aldevaria can be roughly divided into four regions: the cold and frigid north, the gargantuan central valleys, the swampland region of the Naga, and the desolate western sands.
