Burial Mass
It did not sit right with most of the soldiers, but the order had been clear. Now the townspeople were gone, their corpses and the corpses of their livestock buried in a nearby quarry. Many believed the storm that night to be punishment for the transgression but the real misery would befall them the next night. After the storm it was found that the mass grave had been disturbed and leading out was a trail of human and animal limbs and entrails leading into the woods.
From the woods it came that night, killing and devouring anyone and anything in front of it. The stench of rotting flesh and bile emanates from it. Those that escaped saw that shambling mass with arms, hooves, beaks, heads and exposed bone crawling on rotting legs and dragging intestines and organs behind it.
This pieced together mound of flesh is composed of odds and ends of the dead when multiple corpses are buried together. The most dauntless and horrible versions occur after a town is massacred. The combined torment of the victims entwine the rotting flesh together into a being of pure vengeance that will kill and add to its mass for as long as it roams. There are no memories of the individuals who's flesh the Burial Mass is now composed of, only an insatiable hunger for life. Only disposing of all tainted flesh with fire or acid can ever stop this insatiable abomination.
This can also occur after a large devastating battle. Proper funeral rites must be performed after battle lest one of these undead forms from the carnage.
