Imperial Navy
The Paragons of Humanity would hardly be so prestigious if they hadn't a Navy to match the splendor of their Army. If the strength of a nation's military is determined by its Navy, then no-one can truly be said to match the Empire. While outnumbered by the Federation both in crew and and vessels, and lacking the extensive wormhole gateways the latter uses to instantly transport fleets halfway across the galaxy, the speed and firepower of Imperial ships is unsurpassed: Individual vessels that can go toe-to-toe with enemy fleets, cruisers with warp drives more powerful than enemy carriers, and transports with weaponry powerful enough to take on ships-of-the-line. Even the mighty Archaion vessels lack capabilities commonplace among Imperial ships, and possess flaws the Empire has overcome.
Public Agenda
The Imperial Navy exists to protect the Empire's border, crush the threat of piracy, establish control over space and resources, and allow the movement of Imperial assets, including transporting armies for conquest.
