Covent

Magic runs through the veins of Covent like blood, taking the form of a glowing purple liquid, similar in consistency and appearance to mercury. This metallic liquid is called arcenium, and is very toxic if exposed to humanoids in its natural form. Ancient alchemists focused intensively on refining this element into something usable, resulting in a bitter-tasting liquid that was simply called Panacea.   Over time, Panacea was refined and distilled into a more palatable form, with varying levels of strength. With Panacea, anyone could perform powerful magics, no matter their area of specialization--provided you knew the somatic and verbal components. In certain countries, it has started to acquire new names—liquid lightning, or elixir, elix for short, being the most common epithets. The glowing purple liquid is most commonly flavoured to be sweet-tasting and tangy, reported to leave the consumer with a lingering tingly sensation that lasts until the potion’s magic properties are depleted.   With a growing market, government entities have begun fighting for sole control of Panacea, while others are thriving off of the taxation of distilleries.
