》Draigi
"I was met to my level with his eyes; a tempest of fire and fury, when his mere neighbors was of frost and fear- so instinctual. Among the few I've had the pleasure of meeting, I knew they were a draconian people, though not like the diminutive kobold. They posessed much of what I have met within my own democracy. Valor, the light of this aurora- the molten tyranny and hopeful astrology.
How inspiring!"
~Lady Nimuë, having just returned from the Shattered Isles.
Fated as the children of the sinister Nidhoggr, the Draigi are the primary inhabitants within the Northern regions of the Shattered Isles. A feudal people, primed from the flames of war since their first emergence back within their Originland. Valor and Pride, the most valued virtues in their culture, bring these people together, developing unique phenomena that bind their kin together during times of strife.
Hulking dragonkin, draigi are varied in appearance ranging from their horns and ears to their manes and facial hair, eye colors and facial structure. Though most draigi share the same physique and age in the same manner dragons do, some are known to wither and grow weak when they fail to meat nutritional standards, or grow beyond 100 years. Most draigi are capable of living lives up to 300 years, however many tribute their lives to war efforts, if not make themselves into sages or shaman.
Draigi combat tactics are rather defensive in nature, even in their most brutal form. This is because of their history with defending their lands- their own from their cousins; from their deities; and Nymphian colonizers from Patria, including their infestational corruption. No clan demonstrates the furious defense of the Draigi like the Kampsvini clan.* While most civilized draigi, like those from Utstråland, condemn such acts of mindless violence, they rarely have qualms inflicting suffering on invaders and unwelcome guests who mean them harm.
Similar stories can be heard all across the Shatters Isles by the Utstrålandi and Glom'ossians alike, draigi of the Aurorian Light and Undead Hordes respectively. Coiled in a never-ending conflict of morality and strife, the two factions have stood at a standstill on their warfronts since their first interactions. Virtuous paladins fight tooth and nail against horrifying monstrosities, while from the other perspective; Justice-seeking revenants clash at their former allies to expose the corruption they believe lies deeply rooted in their old kingdom. This said, their forces unite time and time again to face common threats, such as the giants and ettins that threaten their livelihood. Glom'ossians however, due to their rebellious nature, have always been open-minded to the idea of foreign visitors, welcoming their support and offering their to the worthy when they can.
Some of the lesser factions of the Draigi include the infernal Brinnande, the shamanistic Åndeslør, and the frozen-hearted Norden, each with their own highlord among them. Deemed "Vandrande" (Wanderer), these Highlords travel the Shattered Isles to keep tapped into what makes their people 'Draigi,' helping those in need and ensuring integrity among their allies.
The heirarchy of their culture divides into each faction, each with their respective leader. Making up a form of council, these proud draconians have brought the same ideology to their first and only established Capital, Sjöfolk Välkomna, or simply Sjöfolk, a coastal city where each faction influences the culture in a unique mixture of tribal industrialism. Spires reinforced in steel, pikes atop the rooves of each building and runic staves, bindings, and shields decorating every house and every street. The smell of smoke and steel pollutes the air as smiths work away their supplies for export and coin, and a monastery, that welcomes no outsider, towers over the bustling cobblestone streets. Declared their International figure by a landslide, Highlord Fördelvir of the Utstrålandi occupies the regularly empty chair in the city- until passed down to Coinlord Myntvir to act as the self-entitled "Chairman of Internation Net" (or COIN). He would go on to establish a group of adventurers to see to both national and international discoveries and mysteries, for 'the good of all' as he puts it. Denscarvir Trofast, Uristra, Födelstra Grønnhaug, and Vulstanvir regularly answer this call to arms, establishing a small warband to right the world as they see fit.
*The Kampsvin Clan.
A tribe of boar worshipping men and women; their current residence suffering from a surprise attack in the night, disturbing their peace on the lives of their innocents. The next morning they supplied themselves with Livcap fungus, and setting out on a warpath pushing the Nymphian settlers back to their port, where they retreated the coast and have not returned since but to retrieve their fallen. No resident was spared, and the vandetta placed on them was repayed seven-fold. Survivors suffered from visions til their last day, and recounts hearing the bellows of swine and dragon roars of fire in the night, before havoc befell them, giving no time to prepare or retreat.
