Glowcap Mushrooms are a species of fungus that give off a dim glow of yellowish light from just after sunset to just before sunrise. It is bioluminescent to attract night-time insects, which it then uses to spread its spores over a farther area than wind alone would be able to.

Nighttime Identification

These mushrooms are easily identifiable by their yellow glow at night, but are much harder to identify during the day. They are freely gilled, light yellow mushrooms with a particularly long stalk supporting the conical cap.

Sprite Lights

The Sprites found in Hunter's Outpost commonly use these mushrooms as path markers, and thus cultivate them to encourage fruiting in the right spot. It is considered a faux pas to step on or otherwise destroy the Sprites' hard work in the settlement.
