Homprides
Homprides are a subtype of horse and carriage, accept instead of horses leading the carriage, it is a species known as Homp horses.
Homp horses have much longer legs then horses, which allows them to be more agile, and they have the endurance of camels, which makes them good for desert travel.
They were first discovered long ago by a young horse-herder who noticed that one of his horse looked a little bit off. Turns out it was a Homp horse that seemed to just have wandered into his horse pen. He tamed it and rode it around, finding out that it was faster and more durable. He called it Hompie. One day, he got on it, and it began running without him telling it to. It ran into the Great Woods, and when he tried to make it halt, it just got faster. Turns out it was trying to take it to its home. Homp-pond. A group of about eighty Homp horses lived here peacefully. The farmer took to selling them. A thousand coins a homp horse, and they caught on quick. Now, after breeding them, they are an essential part of modern day travel. Since they are pretty rare and expensive, horses are still used and sold as a cheaper option, at only three hundred coins a Horse.
Homp horses are mostly found in the Great woods and around the Core Island, over the years some have been transported to the the east and west, to places such as Welldon, Boarwen and Folkrun. Homp horses are known to not be able to survive harsh cold climates, as they seem to freeze up faster than most animals.
Homp horse races have become popular in Rudinia, and a sort of fair is held around them whenever they take place. The Rudin people seem to look forward to them anyway.
