Desert of Golden Lies

Geography

The desert of Golden Lies is home to many beasts and peoples, including the druids and the Shipmen. Its sands and dirts are primarily grey in colour, and rocky terrain and canyons litter its horizon. If one is unlucky enough to get lost in it, it is very easy to end up walking in circles, as everything looks similar to each other. At some points, it can get quite rough and hilly. Quicksand is also known to be in areas such as the golden lies.

Localized Phenomena

There is a phenomenon known as 'greystorms' which seem to be exclusive to areas with greyish sand. It is essentially a sandstorm except grey and five times more dangerous. If trapped in one for too long with no cover, it may cause the person trapped to blackout from lack of oxygen, as one cannot open their mouth within a sandstorm, or it might fill up with greysand.

Tourism

The main reason anyone would travel is to seek wisdom within the temples of the druids through the many libraries or the many seer druids. There are also multiple ports along the coast of the desert, including the Eldeport (dock of the Druidic) and the Shipworks (Haven of Craftsmen). Some tourists also travel to see the ruins of Balt Oasis. There is said to be castle of black stone there built by an extinct tribe of Yusufine known as the Kyan. Tourists usually use Homprides to get around.

Myths and golden lies

There is a mysterious creature that lives in the south of the desert known as the Rebblgrod, which translates from druid into 'The Unknown One', as he has only been occasionally sighted by travellers. It is said that he has three large eyes atop his forehead, and that his body is covered in blue purplish fur. He only has four fingers on each hand and his feet are like a man's, only three times the size!   Long ago, there was a story of a merchant who was lost in the Golden lies, and that, he could see faces with terrified expressions in the sand, all motionlessly staring up at him. This caused him to go mad. Now it is said, that if one searches hard enough, they will his screaming face in the sand.. Long ago, this was considered paranormal, but from diligent research, it has been concluded that the faces were victims of the desert's quicksand.
