Corelian

Welcome to the Kingdom of Corelian. The year is 704 AS (or, After Shattering). Generations removed from that great calamity which created the immense northern mountains and decimated the region now known as the Glades of Lost Light, today we find Corelian a place of astonishing beauty and culture. The white marble parapets of the capital city, Fountainspring, are decorated with fluttering banners in rich tapestries of blue, gold, red, and white. Nearby, the waters of the Mirrored Tides glitter in the sunlight in shades of turquoise and aquamarine. At night, when the moon rises over the vast, inky expanse, the shining beacon at Ererock is visible for a hundred miles in every direction.   Northward, the fishermen of Fernswood-by-the-Lake, the farmers of the vast rolling fields astride the Northwoods, and travelers from the Long Road mingle in the markets and taverns of Whitehaven Castle. To the east, generations of Kelryns have served at the Black Dog Vineyards, shipping their wines and cheeses throughout the kingdom. And at the Crossroads, the inn at Farager's Rest greets travelers from around the Known World.   For all its beauty and splendor, Corelian's dangers are many. At court, the oligarchs of Fountainspring navigate an intricate dance involving scandal, intrigue, and ambition- not to mention the occasional literal backstabbing. On the Long Road, travelers often find themselves the victims of bandit attacks, and hordes of the dead wander out of the Glades of Lost Light to attack the villagers of Lambsbridge. Elsewhere on the continent, bloody revolts threaten to spill over into all-out war in the Kingdom of Cadima, Corelian's northwestern neighbor. Refugees pour through the mountain pass near Summerwatch, and others brave the Mirrored Tides in boats, ultimately landing in the beaches north of Hammerfall. The wretched survivors bring talk of whole villages and towns in open rebellion, of a boy king mad with power.
