Convergence

The summer heat beats down on the grey asphalt. Cicadas buzz from the trees the sound joining the honking and rumbling of traffic and the moan of businessmen and women on their phones walking to work to create the general hum of city life. The train station is filled and emptied as people shove themselves onto subway cars to get to work on time. To the north west, after a ride on the Iron Bird Line you’ll notice old hangers and decommissioned steel-working plants have been turned into apartments, hipstery kombucha shops or espresso bars, and malls now that aircraft building has been moved overseas. Along the coast, on the sand line, you’ll find docks, houses, gorgeous gold beaches, and gigantic cruise ships packed with foreigners refueling for their next long voyage. Southwards, on the evergreen line, you will find yourself in what was once the premier tanning area of the region. Now, the warehouses are filled with homes, pubs and concert venues. Off of Midvale is the largest park in the city, it has public farms which are often frequented by the cities homeless, year round. Everywhere you walk, every brick you touch, still has a faint but distinct smell of tanning hide and burning meat. After a ride on the shrine-home line you will find yourself on Giant's Tooth island. Home to numerous hiking trails through the mountain and at the summit an ancient shrine. The island has long been considered sacred land, and even before the formation of protective laws very few dared disrupt it. To the west after a long ride on the “Rice field” line you’ll find yourself in rural Boundry. Home to numerous farms, campgrounds and trails, it’s fertile soil allowing Boundry to flourish into what it is today.
