The Confederation of Inovation
The largest cohesive nation operated by humans in Continental, with around 55% of the human population being citizens. As a technocracy based upon scientific knowledge and wisdom to determine leadership, it has the single most advanced schooling system in all of Continental. a staggering 87% of the citizenry are literate. The total population is ~70 million citizens, both human and fairy (55 mil human, 15 mil fairy).
But that schooling system is not free to enter, instead as a state controlled branch of government which requires tuition fees of increasing value the further in the education journey one travels. As such there has naturally arisen a class system with richer people affording to go to the high level schools and getting better positions than those who could only invest in a few years primary school.
The current rulership is leading the research towards medical science, inovations in power, and other more under the radar studies. These under the table studies are a lot more immoral than the public studies ever go.

The powerful like to think that the reason they are in power is pure intellect instead of already possessed power, wealth, and status. People who can't make the grade are thrown under the turning wheel of society with little concern.

A large population of fairies and humans. several large domesticated beasts for different purposes. vast ore, rock and coal deposits, volcanic power sources.
Demography and Population
The two large cities hold vast amounts of people with all of the upperclass and noble living there. The wealthy are spread in a line between those two cities along with a large amount of the population. the rest of the popuation lives outside that line.
Technological Level
Higher than the rest of the world, but not quite yet steampunk. very early steps towards steampunk. Use geothermal power from the volcanoes to power forges and foundries.
Religion
Agriculture & Industry
Good volcanic soil means fertile agriculture that can sustain vast workforces. Hunting for food is not required to live off of and the populace is actually the closest to meatless in all of Continental. The Confederation makes 40% of Continental's produce.
Education
87% of the population has at least 1 year of school, but only 10% has what would equal a bachelor's degree and 2% have a doctorate or higher.
Infrastructure
Quite impressive plumbing and sewer systems to get water and waste into the cities, especially Mount Embers. The irrigation systems for the terraced Blue Rice patties is complex and stunning. A good system of roads that lead everywhere in the Confederation.
This country is researching something that if they succeed, they will reawaken magic in Continental and give it back to humans. It will also make everyone remember the truth about the previous eras.
