The Leviathan
"Of all the achievements humanity has done since the first use of tools, no one compares to the ship we are standing on. It's a shame it's made only to throw their trash away" Vladimir Volkovich Rumbrum, Commander of the Leviathan
The Ship
The Leviathan was built as part of a peace treaty between all the major nations of the Old Continent, a way to solve both the internal and international disputes that lasted for a decade, forcing all dissidents and other burdens to the state with some adventourous volunteers to explore the world. The project was given to the Council of Magi, the only ones with magical power not tied to any superior entity, while the rest provided with the resources and supervised the whole process to guarantee its progress. All the hands and minds of the Council worked exclusively on the ship: the hull was built on 5 years, the interior on the 12th year, and the ship was finished on the 20th year after the engine and stabilizers were placed. The propulsion system was the biggest breakthrough of all the project: although it couldn't make the ship to float as it was intended, the engines could give the ship enough strength to sail relatively smoothly, with auxiliary propulsors below to reduce it's draft and lateral exhaust systems that could maintain the ship straight in the expected case of big storms. The engines consume magical energy, but in case of emergency can prdocuce it by consuming all matter in its vicinity and the energy of nearby living creatures. The Leviathan is not only self suffiecient regarding energy, but in amenities as well: the passenger areas were built to acommodate up to 90,000 people; and a greenhouse and animal pens that can produce great amounts of food to keep up the population. All magical systems require relatively low human assistance, but most people have to work in the ship in any of its areas, to keep it afloat. The Legend
Despite receving many praise before and during the voyage, it's legendary status wasn't reached until decades after it's shipwreck. When the last surviving engine suddenly changed itself to Production Mode, what was a wreckage scavenged to build the settlement that later became Sileanum, soon became the main symbol of the power of the Central Authority, the only source of magic in all Thuur. Nowadays, the remains of the Leviathan are part of the landscape of Sileanum and a big element of the Pact (I)religion, as the Avatar of the Pact itself: good deeds are praised in its name, peregrinations are made to see it, and flickers from the faint green light coming from the engine are seen as bad omen.Power Generation
