Living Silicon Material in Confederate States of Earth | World Anvil

Living Silicon

The Living Silicon isn't that living as some might said, but the most obvious origin comes up with such a name. It's a special variant of common semiconductive material of the same name that has been used widely on the electronic component. It's different from the typical one as it's not only pure in its unrefined form but also become an incredibly good superconductor with only a few condition and it's ready.

Properties

Material Characteristics

The living silicon has a greyish color with pretty fine touch. If you zoom so close you can see the particle, or in this case, the silicon cells, it group together in a such a biological way that it assumly to be alive in one of their variants.

Physical & Chemical Properties

If its temperature is between 10 to 50 deree celcius it become the great supercondutor. In this state, the electrical resistence become close to zero, meaning that the electric call flow through it technically instant, while produce no heat into the environment.

Origin & Source

The living silicon can not be found in any place so easily. According to the galactic map, there's only a few planet this thing can be found and excavated:

  1. The planet Tungstumon and other 5 planets to have a minable deposits. Highly protected and observed by the MDR, it's one of the republic's main industry.
  2. The feces, or the entirely, of the Prismals, the native species on the planet Pristallin. It's produced by feeding the highly silicon-riched water which is what it already their diet in their homeplace. It took several days up to weeks in order to produce only a 1km of pure living silicon.

History & Usage

Industrial Use

One of the most used of the living silicon is of course the electronic device. Many computer all use the fast circuit board to calculate trillion bits of information in a second. From the ships control doing the navigater during jumping, to the DSC station, which is standing by 20 to 40 stations galaxywide.
