The Forsaken Queen

Thousands of years ago there was a great and powerful Queen who ruled her Kingdom with the love of the people. However, as her rule stretched into its 100th year, the nobles of the kingdom grew weary. She hadn't seemed to age even the slightest. Suspicion grew, dark bargains and magics surely must have been at play. They rallied their strongest magics and technology to create a device that could stop even her great, immortal power, not through death, but something to ensnare her in a prison of eternal crystal. For 1,000 years, its said, she was powerless and motionless. But one day, a crack formed on the crystal, and the figure inside began to move. The descendants of those nobles from so long ago set up a militia around the castle, allowing none to go inside, setting up traps and instruments of fear to deter all who might get too close to her. And for an unknown amount of time, the queen was guarded.
That all changed after The Cataclysm.
Those with the power to keep her castle protected are long gone, and many of the traps were destroyed. Yet, her Crystal remains untouched, only that single crack that formed in a time long ago. Still trapped within the crystal, she is limited to live within her prison, but she she has amassed new followers to do her bidding. Once more, her charisma allows her to lead a powerful cult, now seeking to grant her her freedom. And they will stop at nothing to find the instrument of magic that created her prison, so they may find the secret of her release.
