Loyalties are frayed

Markus confronts Elena over her loyalty to the High King. He promptly challenged her to ritual combat on the bank of a river when she showed signs of disloyalty.   Elena, freshly knighted, was forced to cut off her brother's legs and left him for dead when he wouldn't see reason. Markus was last seen shouting obscenities before falling into the river's cold embrace.   The others knights and nobles who heard about the incident starting referring to Elena as the Kinslayer.
