Kalizah

An ancient sorceress of the Melusine Sisterhood. She was captured after the Imperium of Mjidian conquered the city-state of Cau 800 years ago. She was then ritually sacrificed to bind her soul to a Magefire Gem which made her a Djenne. She has been bound to serve the holder of the gem for centuries, though thankfully since the fall of Mjidian, most no longer know the purpose of the gem or that she exists. Only those who have the ability to become mages can see her, but most do not pay attention to her.
The current owner of her Gem, Osaghisa is killed when he foolishly challenges an Enchanter, and his body is looted by a street thief. The thief is then caught trying to pickpocket Caius Thade and surrenders his loot to him before escaping.
To Kalizah's surprise, Caius can see her but he thinks she is just a normal person. He is curious why he keeps encountering her, but does not press the issue. Over time, she grows to love him and will eventually be freed from her prison by Zuanna.
