Enchanters
The Enchanters are Tanoine sorcerers. Their name comes from the old Tanoine word "Ekhanti" which meant servant. All Tanoine claim descent from Tuanna, but the Enchanters in particular believe their ability to use magic comes from her.
During the time of Avalinon, the Enchanters were the nobles and fully in support of the aims of the crown. After the Fall of Avalinon, a lot of Enchanters withdrew to Inin Luthiat where they formed the Court of Stars. Originally, not all Enchanters joined the Court of Stars but eventually the Court would become powerful enough to require all Enchanters to spend time at Inin Luthiat, even the heirs of Kings and Queens. The Court of Stars eventually grew too powerful and corrupt and was destroyed in the War of the Seven Kings. The surviving Enchanters signed a Covenant to never use their magic in war again.
Today, the Enchanters of the Tanoine are a loose association only. There is no organized structure, and most Enchanters do not even like to be around each other. With the fall of most of the Tanoine Kingdoms over the last couple of centuries, the Enchanters are very small in number now and in in fact they number less than 10 currently. The vast majority of those are found on Galedein, though there is still a couple of Lliannin Enchanters still alive.
