Prompt 33: The Battle of the Chasm of Spears

I remember the first time I heard the story of the battalion of imperials that got beat by a small raiding party of beast clan. They thought they could sneak a battalion into occupied territory only to have a freak accident kill or separate half their forces and revealing their position. The fact the beast clan tore through what was left still shows how dangerous even a small squad of enraged beast clan warriors can be. - Ace Cardia

A large force of imperial forces was using the caverns and caves of the Chasm of Spears to get into occupied territory held by the beast clan alliance. At the same time, a smaller force was traveling along the top of them. No one knows how but a supply of explosives went off collapsing a part of the cavern they were trying to use.
The problem for the empire is that it revealed the caverns to the beast clan forces. Acting fast the beast clan warriors moved to attack the confused and shocked imperial army. Driving them deeper into the caverns. Before the empire could regroup another explosion would lock out their exit.
With no choice, it was either to fight the beast clan or to surrender and hope for mercy. The empire almost pushed the beast clan back and forced themselves out of the caverns. To bad for them reinforcements for the best clan arrived forcing the imperial forces to surrender.

Imperial forces were using the caverns of the Chasm of Spears to make it to beast clan territory. At the same time, the beast clan was launching a raiding party to scout and sabotage imperial bases.

Deployment

The imperial had a battalion of some of their best men. While the Beast clan had a smaller force of raiders and saboteurs that were skilled at causing a bit of chaos.
