The sap of the zidsan tree contains the essence that the zidsan tree pulls from the earth and the air. These saps would contain pure essence that comes in two forms. Zidsan Pearls and Shards.
Zidsan Pearls are capable of containing raw magical energy inside it that is in a more stable form than the shards. While common in the creation of rune stones it has been found to be used as a power source. The first time this was done was by the Lazari who used it to power different artifacts and devices. While it took some time the presari empire thanks to the humans have found out how to use magical energy of the pearls to power technology.

Zidsan pearls were originally used by the Lazari to power different devices and artifacts. They figured out early on how to pull the essence from the pearls and even figured out how to imbue that power in objects thanks to runes and the science of the day.
During the rise of the fellowship, it was discovered a simple rune was all that was needed to use the magical energy of the sap. This started the first rune stones.
