A Study on Magic and Mana

What is magic? Is it just a concept chained to our vibrant child like fantasies? Is it something so far away and lost that we may never see until our technology advances us beyond the stars?
Simply put, no it is not and given the appearance of Doors and the people we call Divers we cannot say anymore what about fantasy is false or not. Even though it has been a fairly recent development in our world to see some people perform fantastic feats of strength, speed, there are those who are even able to cast "Spells" to heal people and conjure streams of flame hurt others.

Ignition and what it means.

This strange yet wonderfully curious development happened only two decades ago with what we have begun to call the first "Ignition". It has been labeled this due to the burning sensation felt by those experiencing a surge of energy entering their body and evolving it over the course of several days. Although there is the terrible fact that not all those that have gone through this "Ignition" have come out for the better, but have burnt up and perished due to spontaneous combustion.
With their permission, the next of kin for a small portion of these incidents have allowed our medical team to exam several of the recently perished of these people were very literally burnt by an unknown substance from the inside out originated from three places, the liver, the heart and even the brain as if an overloading of this energy caused "Ignition" into these areas.
Even though this "Ignition" has caused death, those who have came out of it alive have experienced changes more akin to tales of fantasy with heroes and monsters. Some have become faster, stronger, healthier, and even younger looking to some extent but all have been changed physically and mentally in their features and demeanor.
This energy that has changed them and allowed for this newfound strength has been deemed "Mana".

What is Mana?

Mana, a fantastical element found in both literature and video games is for some reason real. It is this energy that forces "Ignition" and opens a person up to a new world of magic and fantasy like powers. It has taken time to find those who are able to manipulate this phenomena and those who can have show they are able to use the Mana in the surrounding to cast their "spells" and create miracles, it can also be drawn from inside of them somehow like an innate well of energy that we are able to hold, much like a charge of electricity. This innate charge could be what "Ignition" changes within us as we initially absorb the energy.
With this well of energy in those who have been introduced to Mana, we have conducted research into what happens when this energy is depleted and the results have been found to be almost deadly as when the well of Mana is depleted from a person the spells and abilities they are able to use begin to draw from their own bodily resources, reducing their amount of blood and begin to burn through natural energies found in cells almost like the initial "Ignition" causing the rapid decay and assuredly death if the drain continues.
With the revelation of Mana affecting people, it has also been found to be changing our planet much more slowly than that of our people. Interactions with soil has made it more purer and fertile, plant grow faster and produce more, the pollution found in our water seems to be decreasing every year, and the air has been found to be cleaner even in some places, as quoted from those affected, "Strangely Pleasant, almost calming". These changes happening to our planet are still being recorded and monthly updates will be published for all to find and read.

How does this relate to the Doors?

Mana is indeed a strange thing that has come to fill and change our world ever slowly, but with it and the "Ignition" of a smaller percentage of our populace, another phenomena that has come to be called a Door has appeared. These things that seem to look like our own doors if not others found earlier in history come in various sizes ranging from an average house's door to one that filled up a river and reaches as far as a bridge in height, but not all save the initial London and New York Doors have show to host that incredible size. From our findings, these Doors consist of this new energy and mostly appear in areas with a larger concentration of Mana such as cities with a higher population versus a small country town.
But even though we know what they are made of we still cannot understand why they appeared in the first place or how they truly work.
But we do know that behind these gateways exist various places unknown to us that contain creatures that have been living and evolving with this Mana. They have shown to be aggressive and dangerous with both natural strengths above the animals we know and some have been found to be able to cast 'spells' and use other abilities. The creatures found behind the Doors have come to be labeled as Monsters for the simplest of functions as they threaten to break out from the Door that binds them to their small worlds on the other side. Though dangerous as they are, they have what are now called "Monster Cores", crystallized organs that can be filled with Mana and taken from.
