Morandil

Sir Morander Janus (a.k.a. Morandil)

Morander Janus, better known as Morandil, was a human-turned-elf knight who got involved a crisis between the Kingdom of Four Swords (now called Goth) and High Gaelitia in 2900.

History

Early Life

In the year 1A 2883, two human parents under the surname Janus had their second son, Morander, in the city of Manneruck. Morander would grow up to become a squire under the local lord and eventually a knight. As a knight, he went out from the city and decided to protect a local village called Landricus.

The Elven Disk

Eventually, the lord of Landricus tasked Morander Janus to slay a young dragon that was terrorizing the village. Morander went on a journey through the High Forests as he started to track the dragon. However, on his path, he found a group of cultists going to sacrifice a Keller woman, named "Alice", to a demon. Morander stopped this sacrifice. Morander would learn that Alice was a knight herself who tried to track down those cultists. With the woman Alice by his side, they tracked down the young dragon and killed it.   Returning to Landricus, they saw the village was being invaded by orcs. Morander and Alice killed many of the orcs, and then learned the orcs attacked due to a man named Warden Eibard stealing from them. Morander and Alice tracked down Warden Eibard to a coastal village called Dert. Eibard admitted his crime, and showed Morander the Elven Disk, a disgraceful device that could turn humans into elves. Eibard tried to escape Morander's arrest. Morander chased Eibard into the forest until they were attacked by High Elves. Eibard activated the device, turning Morander into a Dark Elf, and tried to escape. Yet the Elves caught Eibard, and Morander, negotiating with the elves, bartered to take Eibard back to Landricus for justice. The Elves took back the Elven Disk, and Morander escaped and had Eibard thrown into the dungeon of Landricus.

Manipulating Fenestein

"Alice" revealed herself to be a Drow named Katalina, being a fugitive of their kind.
In the midst of the crisis, Morander would learn Alice was hiding her true identity: she was actually a disobedient Drow, and was about to be sacrificed to demons to turn her into a Drider. She thanks Morander for his help. Morander, however, wished to reverse his elf transformation and traveled to Fenestein, the City of the Four Swords, to see if a wizard would help him. The High Wizard, Jacques, refused, telling Morander he should accept his fate. Thus Morander renamed himself Morandil and took on the new life.   As Morandil went through the city, he heard rumors of the King Ledger of Fenestein was planning on attacking the High Elves in order to expand his territory. Morandil and Katalina broke into the palace of Fenestein to destroy the king's commands. As such, the attack never went through. King Ledger searched for the thieves, but Katalina helped Morandil erase evidence of their tampering. This did not stop King Ledger from causing a quarantine of the city, allowing no one to leave the city.   Eventually the royal guards caught Morandil and Katalina, and King Ledger suspected them of the tampering. He declared Dark Elves illegal in the land, and told the guards to execute them. Awaiting their deaths, Morandil and Katalina planned to escape the prison. Morandil asked to speak to the king for one final request, and King Ledger visited the dungeon. With King Ledger alone, the two managed to choke him until unconscious from behind the bars, take his castle keys, and ran out of the dungeon.   Back to hiding within the city, the guards made quick work to find the fugitive dark elves. Evidently, Morandil began to contact the High Elves, saying King Ledger planned to attack them. The King of the Elves, named Ezekhael, decided to pay the city of Fenestein a visit. King Ledger was embarrassed to find his plans revealed. In a trial, Morandil and Katalina revealed to the public that King Ledger was going to declare an unjust war against the Elves. King Ledger was indeed wishing to take land near Caer Begi witha sneak attack. King Ledger was defeated, and a treaty was forced upon the Kingdom of Four Swords. Thus, Morandil and Katalina became heroes, renowned for stopping a crisis that could have erupted into a terrible war.
