Kirkwall
Kirkwall was a village that rested on the outset of the Kirk Forest and the Silver River in County Malway.
Demographics
Kirkwall is largely just humans, with a small remaining Dwarf population there from when Lysandus was once controlled by the dwarves. It is filled with peasants who work to export and trade lumber down the river. The few middle class folk in the city are carpenters, primarily working for Ginweld Woolen Goods and Woodman's Furniture. The only man of notable high class is the Dragonlord of Kirkwall, Sir Franklin Millerstone.
Government
Kirkwall is controlled primarily by the Lord of Kirkwall, Sir Franklin. Most of the local decisions for the town come to him. Because it falls under feudal law, the lord will occasionally bend to the Church of Amagus' whim for guidance. Otherwise, Sir Franklin Millerstone remains knight protector of the town and his only governmental superior is the King of Lysandus.
Defences
Kirkwall is a poorly fortified city. Though it does have guards, the city relies on protection from Ebenwald and Silver Town for it's waters. Often, however, the city relies on the few knights living there, as well as clerics, to protect them from the threats in the Kirk Forest itself.
Industry & Trade
Kirkwall primarily focuses on lumber taken from the Kirk Forest that sits on the outsets of the town. The towns of Feller's Rock and Silver Town rely on Kirkwall for their furnishing needs, with Woodman's Furniture being considered some of the best quality in all of Lysandus.
History
In the year 5592, the small town of Kirkwall was mostly destroyed due to a blue dragon rising from the earth. Ultimately, it would be saved by a band of adventurers hired by Queen Dariah to slay the dragon usurper. One of these heroes, a knight named Sir Millerstone, would become a dragonlord and was put in charge of fixing the city. By 5609, the city would be rebuilt.
