Chapter 22 - A Day Spent in Ebenwald

General Summary

When arriving in Ebenwald, the party presented themselves to the guards as new dragonlords, and wishes to approach the king for the declaration. Heading toward the Palace of Zahav. When entering, the guards tried to stop them and make them go through bureaucracy. Slytoff wandered inside, however, and came across Prince Jacob. Prince Jacob was studying forbidden arcane arts. Slytoff appeased to the prince, who took the party right to his father.   In the presence of King Mortimer Darius, the party showed him the dragon heads they collected. King Mortimer knighted them and declared them as dragonlords. He told them he would find them land later, but needed to assign them a mission. King Mortimer told the party they needed to search for two things: the ancient sword, Dragonslayer, and also find the whereabouts of the forsaken King Boerhtric. King Mortimer figured if he could get King Beorhtric on his side they could stand a chance against the combined Danen and Black Knight forces. The party agreed, and made their way towards the inner city for some shopping.   In the huge city, the Dragonblazers found two magic-based stores and decided to get a few items with their large stash of gold. The party bought the following items for themselves:
  • Wulfric got Gauntlets of Ogre Power, but realized they were useless on himself. So he gave them to Tequila, who could finally hit better.
  • Riley would buy an upgrade for his +1 shortsword, turning it into Flame Tongue, and also bought an Ioun Stone of Protection.
  • Gilliam bought a Sword of Life Stealing for himself.
After they bought their items, the party came to the Hammer Rest Hotel, where they ate high cuisine food, and rested in very comfortable beds. However, during the middle of the night, the party was attacked by two Black Dragon assassins. Gilliam was knocked out from the poison and Riley was heavily injured. Slytoff cast a huge fireball in the room and killed one assassin, but the second survived and nearly killed Slytoff. With the room on fire, the party slew the last assassin and dragged their friends out of the flames. The fire kept spreading! Riley and Wulfric used the bathwater to extinguish some flames, and they eventually awakened Slytoff to dismiss the fire. The room was still heavily scorched. All of them still extremely tired, they went back to sleep that night.
