Chapter 14 - Into Grechabod Factory

General Summary

After slumbering in the Fomorian lair, Riley came across yet another dream from the Lady of the Lake. She gave him yet another order: to take a necklace of rare value and gift it to a silver dragon named Morgesk in the Dragonscale Mountains. Vivian gave him a week to complete his task. Then, Riley woke up, withholding the knowledge. The party managed to make it out of the abyss, using their ropes to climb back to the top of the web roads. The Southern Stars then stumbled across a small Drow village, being harassed by Duergar troops. The party sided with the Drow. Riley used hypnotic pattern to stall the Duergar, and Slytoff used a well-placed fireball to kill many more.   One of the Drow Elite soldiers, a male named Lulachin, felt ashamed for the assistance given by the party. Riley served as a negotiator as they discussed the attack with the Drow Matriarch of the village, named Darunia. Darunia requested them to disable a Duergar factory east of the settlement, and would reward them for their trouble. With some party banter, everyone eventually left to go and find the factory.   The party eventually found a Duergar factory, guarded by Duergar Hammerers and simple troops at the front entrance. Tequila used his power of thaumaturgy as a distraction, scaring the Duergar to thinking an earthquake was happening, and they ducked into the building. Then, the Southern Stars snuck by, finding the side entrance where some of the Duergar workers were on break. Gilliam picked off some of them, and the party slew their way through the workers. Slytoff tried to ingest some samples of soul sand, and nearly died from doing so; however, he proved to be hearty enough to save his soul from exiting.   They entered the Refinery Room, finding it guarded by more Duergar workers, a basilisk guard, and another hammerer. Tequila was nearly turned to stone from the basilisk's stare, but he overcame the effect. Wulfric slew many of the dwarves, while Riley used his pact magic to burn through the enemies. Slytoff jumped onto a Duergar worker, who was enlarged, and Slytoff managed to electrocute him with a slap. The party investigated the room, finding more refined soul ash. Riley disabled the factory machines and power in the room. Then, the party came to a hallway, finding more duergar to potentially attack...

Rewards Granted

The party only found scarce amounts of gold on any of the slain duergar, in duergar coins.   They also got multiple bags of Soul Sand, a strange material which appears to mess with the souls of mortals. It was a purple-like material, glistening and powdery yet with the same texture of sand.
