Chapter 10 - The Lakes of Urshlon

General Summary

After the ferocious battle of Feller's Rock, the question of replacing Aethelred came into place. The adventurers decided that his young cousin, the 10 year old Gilmore, should be the next Lord of Feller's Rock, but watched over the knight Sir Roderick who once helped them. With that matter squared away, the party travelled southward to Silver Town again and went shopping to resupply themselves for whatever was to come next. There they met the bard Pontius, who showed them some of his writings of the Albion Chronicle and gave them insight on the religion of Vivian, the Lady of the Lake. He directed them to Urshlon.   As such the party travelled into the thick fog of the lake of Urshlon, outside of Silver Town. Caoimhe led her cohorts through the fog, having practiced her perception and becoming good at tracking. They came to Fey Lake, where they heard the voice of Vivian in the wind. Ardor, a staunch believer in Amagus, presented his symbol of his god against her, and questioned her true power over fate if she would allow evils, like Gromherjek and the destruction of Feller's Rock, to happen. Vivian responded that she allows evil to happen, which made Ardor disgusted.   Vivian explained to the party that they were going to deal with an evil entity, an Abishai named Qenlynn, who somehow travelled to the past and set the entire plan in motion to ensure she was never defeated in the future. She warned the party that she would be out to kill Eogun and Uhtric, for from them would come the lines of the Kings of Keller and Albion. She warned the party that Qenlynn would pursue them and try to destroy them, and gave Eogun a blessing of a chalice of holy water from the lake to protect them.   The party ventured into the fog, where they battled a great Hydra and a Naga to protect it. Caoimhe entrapped the Naga with her staff, and Ardor blasted it with a fireball. The party thus defeated the creatures and went to the forge of Urshlon. They were confronted with some white Abishais, but Uhtric dispersed them with his channeling of divine magic. Ardor then sent Ash to scout the area, finding Fire Elementals inside. They went further into the forge and battled the fire elementals, which burned them. Uhtric used Create Food and Water to create water to extinguish part of an elemental. They defeated them after a hard fought battle and then went to the divine forge.   Uhtric placed together the first piece of Pendragon, creating what was once a dagger into a short blade to use in combat. After he finished, the party was interrupted by Sunjar-Navi, the prophet of Vivian, who had trailed them there. He told the party they stood upon holy ground of the dwarves, but was afraid it was already desecrated by the Abishais. He lamented that the belief in Vivian would fade one day, and so would the magic of the forge. Despite those words, he asked Uhtric if he would be willing to accept an alliance from the Mountain Dwarves of the Golden City. Uhtric agreed to their help to stop the Danen. Nilrem also met up with the group, saying that Brymoor was under the control of Harold Ebenwald who let the Danen into the city, and thus needed to be defeated.   The adventurers departed from Urshlon and continued to the south road. Nilrem warned the party that he feared something evil guarded the second forge, as the forge was buried long ago under Brymoor to keep it away from the mortals. But he told the party to worry about that later. When they travelled, John Harvard-Hemming got a strange dream...
...A dream of the fey of Talamh circling around him in a dance, almost in celebration. The masses of the unseelie shouting, "Hail to the new Bghonah, the Arch-Fey of the Unseelie! May he reign forever!" John woke up from the trance, finding his skin greener, and accessing more fey powers.
They arrived the next day in Brymoor, where the Danen guards would not let them through. Nilrem lost patience and used druidic magic to create a storm over the city, and threatened to level it if the guards did not let them through. The Danen, scared, opened the gates, and Nilrem and the group quietly went through. They soon found regiments of Danen soldiers trying to stop them, but Nilrem became a Silver Dragon to keep them away, while Sunjar cut through the Danen armies with his Holy Avenger to let the players pass through. Sunjar then activated his sanctuary spell and guarded the portcullis of Ebenwald Castle, telling the party he would hold off any enemy soldiers while they would slip inside. They hurried in, and Sunjar held his ground, anticipating the fighting to soon be over...

The Forge Inscription

From the forges of Urshlon came the wrath against the serpent usurpers.
As punishment for their lust for war and wealth as the dwarves once fell to,
The blades of Dragon’s Bane were formed, weapons of the sentinels of East.
Used by the dwarves of Nordlieften’s legacy to defend their rightful lands.

One dragon bane was lost to the north, to the hands of the kells and King Beorhtric
Once and future king of the Kells.
The other was found and crafted, in the hands of Percen of the Fell.
He called the sword “Pendragon”, the prison of the serpents.

Against who shall the doom of Pendragon fall?
The snake of the ages
An ancient green
Shall oppose Albion and her children.
Yet one shall be lifted up
To be found worthy of the sword
And bring doom to he who wishes to swallow Albion.
