Castle Drulikak

Behold Drulikak, the castle of the cursed.
Lying on the river for those who thirst
is plunder of a kingdom once proud
now buried in a mossy shroud.
Drulikak was a castle 10 miles away from the city of Keller's Coast, serving as the original palace for the King of Keller. However, it had soon become ruins, reportedly haunted by ghosts.

Purpose / Function

Once, Castle Drulikak served as the palace of King Beorhtric Lulach, the first King of the Kells. Though it was 10 miles away from Keller's Coast, it's location along a river kept it from being invaded so easily. Here, the old Keller kings often kept their courts and administration and often used them as hunting grounds as well. Now, the castle as deteriorated due to abandonment. It serves as the dwelling place of the relentless spirit of King Beorhtric, who haunts the castle.

Architecture

The ruins are four stories tall, consisting of a structure made mostly of stone which has been covered in moss. It has several rooms, including a lounge, a palace room, lower dungeons, a tower, and a master bedroom and servant living quarters. It was built upon the top of the Caverns of Drulikak, in reverence of the Fae of Fate, Vivian. However, this has led to strange supernatural occurrences taking place within the castle's structure. Some speculate this is the reason it is haunted.

History

Legend tells that King Boerhtric wished to honor Vivian by building his palace on top of the rocks that gave him his power. Thus, in a span of 10 years, he built a magnificent castle, where him and Queen Matilda Carannog would live until the end of their days. Once he passed away, the castle went to his sons, who lived there and governed the Kingdom of Kells. Unfortunately, the spirit of Beorhtric became relentless in the 27th century when the Lulachs were overthrown by Clan MacBert. The MacBerts were tormented in Castle Drulikak until the eventual downfall of the Kingdom of Kells in the 28th century.
Now, forever cursed by his pact with Vivian, the ghost of King Boerhtric haunts and protects Castle Drulikak with the lost heroes of old. Many adventurers have tried to enter the castle, but none have left. Some legends state that Beorhtric awaits the day his curse can be lifted, passed to another willing to take up his impossible crusade. Such is his curse, a burden nobody wishes to share. As he was blinded by heroism, so are those who enter the castle...
