Hundgard (WHO-ND-guard)

Hundgård, called Houndguard in the Fiereni and Common tongue, is the capitol and most populous city of the Kingdom of Nortvin. Situated on the northern coast of the Drakenlag, the city is separated from the Kingdom of Heron by the Fierej Straight.

Demographics

The citizens of Hundgård are predominantly Norten Fiereni, with a smaller population of Southern Fiereni and Falcresti. The Golenti are represented, with approximately 0.4% of the population (numbering around 1,000), making Hundgård one of the largest population centers of 'surface' Golenti in Omath.
The Nuaira are almost non-existent in Hundgård, save for itinerant travelers who often arrive via ship. Owing to the maritime industry, a number of Nuaan, Planetouched, and half-Oroka the city their home.

Known for its expansive wharves and dock district, Hundgård is a city defined by its industry. The city boasts cobbled streets, extensive oil lamps throughout the city, as well as a subterranean sewer network maintained by a cadre of Riverhand Golenti workers utilizing trained gelatinous cubes for cleaning.

History

Originally a whaling village settled by Falcresti sailors, Hundgård was named for the rocky promontory on the southern coast of the Fierej Straight, which at the time resembled a canine's head and shoulders. The village enjoyed success as a staging point for the whaling activities in the western ocean, bringing with it prosperity and industry.
