Commissioner Gord's report on housing infrastructure of Grimveil

I have known of mimics, that grew to great proportions and worked together to replicate a house, and those were more convincing homes then these. - First line of Conclusion in Commissioner Gord's report on the housing of Grimveil.
-In the town of Grimveil, situated on the isolated cluster of rocks and reefs known as The Isles, there are buildings, these buildings are built of stone and wood, and they are, as the locals persist, their homes. Yet upon inspection, the beds were aged and moth eaten but showed no signs of having ever been used, the stoves barely scorched with the remnants of fire and a thick layer of grime and dust coated every surface.- Opening paragraph of Commissioner Gord's report.

Purpose / Function

-Typically the purpose of a house is to live in it, yet these homes showed little to know signs of habitation-   -What purpose they serve instead of habitation is beyond the scope of this report, should a future team wish to research this matter I am happy to liase on the subject, although I politely request not to be included upon such a team-

Alterations

  • Each building had a crude basement dug out to store fish and other perishables within, all were found to be partially flooded, likely due to the rough tides and constant rains of The Isles, hence their omittance from the original construction, as for why locals undertook such renovations is unclear.-
  • Architecture

  • suprisingly uniform in structure, each 'building' has a singular main room taking up the whole ground floor, with a staircase situated in said room leading to the first floor, here is a small hallway and two identical bedrooms. The main room downstairs have a fireplace with stove, a few chairs, and sideboard, there are not signs of possessions or other objects.-
  • History

  • upon requesting a town plan I was escorted to an aged and worn stone tablet the size of a table inside the major church, which acts as the local document storage, this depicted the buildings of the town, and with few exceptions was still accurate. I was assured the tablet was created following colinisation of the Isles.
  • "House is a grand word for those wretched imitations of a building" - overheard by Comissioner Gord from a sailor having just left Grimveil.
