The Brown Scorpion Society of Soojun

On the Frontiers and even in Imperial provinces there are pro-imperials and anti-imperials. Some in open war at the edges of the Imperial dominion ( Red Dragon Dominion, Iron Dragon Kingdom, Free Olian league, Green Dragon kingdom) and some in rebellion or fighting Imperial rule or influence in the Provinces and Frontier. In the Esereti Frontier Region the Brown Scorpion Society are anti-imperial fighters. Terrorists and rebels, or heroic freedom fighters for independence depending on your views. There is a general over arching leadership but each town or city has it's own.
The origin of the Society is actually a fighting school - the Brown Dragon School. The Scorpions originally were high masters of the fighting style of the Brown Dragons. The Empire conquered the region of the school, but banned it and burned their temple to the ground for resisting Imperial conquest. The Scorpions scattered, with a few reforming the school in the Red Dragon Dominion as The Earth Dragon School. Students of the Brown Dragon school were recruited as early leaders of the Brown Scorpions. They continue to fight against the Empire.
The Brown Scorpions of Soojun fear imperial occupation and are opposed to the heavy imperial influence brought by the Legate and the Green Legion. They damage and sabotage Imperial properties and shipments, threaten or kill Imperials in the town and surrounding territory. They leave a brand or ink imprint of the scorpion where they strike.

Structure

The Scorpion Society is a secret society in Soojun.  The leader is a half-human Beastmen Tigerhead female, Mahwa. Low status even in Eseret, and slave or nothing under Imperial rule. She is a trash hauler and picker. She wears a veil mask and hood around those who are not her "Egg" and is "Lady Scorpion".   Her second runs a centaur powered co-op textile mill producing linen. His name is Guo.  The third officer is Si Jo Fua, daughter of The noble Si Jo family of Silver Dragon Clan.

Public Agenda

The public agenda is simple: Drive out and prevent Imperial control and influence. They spread rumors that the Torga Imperials eat children and blame them and the Legate for any missing or deaths. They report that the Priests of The Order of Heaven worship devils and demons disguised as gods and demand attendees, especially children to sexually serve the priests. They say that every bride in the Empire must spend her marriage night with the local Magistrate or Governor and this is what is desired in Soojun by Imperials.

Military

The Scorpions are organized into "eggs" of 3-4 persons. They have hand signs and code words to recognize others or to convey messages. In Soojun they do not have an organized fighting force - just individual fighters and brawlers.  Enough that the Legate mandates that all Torga  and other Imperial citizens should avoid travel at night, and should be in groups of 3 or more - especially Legionaries.

Religion

The Brown Scorpion Society advocates tradition and local religion.  The imposition of the Phoenix throne and the Emperor above traditional local religion and ancestors is an affront.  They say that to meekly fold arms and obey or comply with the Emperor is to bring shame and dishonor to family and will anger ancestral ghosts and spirits. The Celestial Dragons are the highest Gods of Eseret and the Emperor can not command them nor the seasons or weather that the Dragons control.

Founding Date

987 Imperial Reckoning for the Brown Scorpion Society. Soojun Brown Scorpions started in 1240 by members of the Si Jo Clan.
