Otovrast goblins and their mushrooms
The mushrooms of the Otovrast Londa Clan goblins is a delicacy enjoyed by many of the different races that call Hrashchar their home.
The Londa Clan had been cultivating a variety of edible and medicinal fungi in their Otovrast cave for centuries, starting shortly after their establishment, but it took the actions of a particularly entrepreneurial generation of Londan goblins a couple of centuries ago to bring them to the attention of the outside world.
Due to the limited size of the Londan cave network and the mushrooms' apparent inability to grow elsewhere (some cynics suggest that this is due to Bolgrim meddling), the clan has never been able to increase the supply of mushrooms, but they can (and do) take advantage of ceaseless demand to ensure that their profits have always been particularly healthy.
If the Sennyth peoples had ever learned to share the Dwerrin's love of money, the Londa Clan would have become very powerful very quickly. However, though the goblins of the Otovrast share the Dwerrin's mercantile societal structure to a point, the notion of hereditary nobility has never quite left them, which means the Londans remain wealthy and technologically advanced, but no more influential in goblin politics than they were before they ever sold a mushroom (which is to say, not particularly influential).
Why are the mushrooms so good? Again, cynics and anti-Bolgrim activists talk of illicit magical enhancement, but most gastronomists agree that nutrients from a particular mineral strain known only the Londa caves bestows a particularly appealing, slightly sweet tang that translates exceedingly well into the cuisines of many different cultures.
Whatever the exact reason for their success, the Londa Clan has at least managed to inspire other entrepreneurs among the goblins, leading to a thriving mushroom business run out of the Otovrast. No fungus is prized to the same extent as a Londa Clan Mushroom, but many come close, and the activity of other goblins has allowed many people who can't afford the original thing to enjoy quality mushrooms all the same.
