Certál

Certal is the name of the DnD world that my homegames take place in. It is a custom setting made for the enjoyment of myself and the groups that play in my games. It started when I had to separate my world that I write in from the world I game in. This lead to a world in which I wanted the actions of every group that plays in it to have effects upon the world and slowly develop and flesh it out over the course of many years.   Certal is a vast world with dozens of continents, hundreds of nations and races, all crammed into an ever expanding world. It is not a planet, but a plane of existence, though Certal also encompasses domains outside of the plane of existence and the gods that rule over those planes.   The world itself is very much magical, but magic is a rarity and treated as such. It is based on realism and draws heavy inspiration from the early medieval times as well as works of literature and games such as Guild Wars 1, The Witcher, Malazan series, Gothic, Dark Souls and Beowulf.
