The Viper's Eye

It is believed that this relic is currently lost in the shadow plane. 
The gemstone's history predates mankind's arrival on Cerilia and it radiates an aura of cold watchfulness.
After it was first given to the Vos it was passed down to many of the chieftains. This strengthened their dependency on their new adopted god. It led to humans learning dark magicks since they were unable to use traditional magic unlike the elves. It was only after the blood of the gods was absorbed by humans and becoming blooded that they were able to use magic like elves, but many continued to use the dark magic that this item displayed.
Over time it went from the Vos, to the Halflings, to the Gnolls, back to the Vos and so on and so forth. Eventually the location and owner was lost, but many who know of the item dear that it is in the hands of an unnamed power that rules the shadow plane.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The exact powers of the Viper's Eye are unknown. However, there are scattered records that suggest that it enhances necromancy or stores powerful spells for the wizard attuned to it. One book claims it was able to banish extraplanar beings back to their home plane and negate magic, while another suggests that it was an extraordinary tool for scrying.
Regardless of the power people claim it had, the ending was all the same. The owner that had power of the gem fell to ruin, even if it was just sitting idle within a few decades without fail.

Significance

This was a gift from Azari to the Vos people when he sought to deduce the people of Vorynn from their god. He took the guise of an ancient wise man, pretending to teach them and instead corrupted them.
