The Primes

The following are brief introductions of each of the major Gods of Centrum. The Primes are the most commonly known Gods to have survived the Divine Battle and are the most widely worshipped. They are referred to as the Primes because after the Divine Battle they were the ones to have absorbed the power of their fallen brethren and grew to a level beyond many of the few other serving Gods and Goddesses.

Zilos, The Diviner

History

During The Age of War, Zilos was the patron of diviners and the God of the Future. He was renowned for the important visions of the future he would grant his champions leading them to decisive victories and seeming to disappear just before a disaster would have struck. When the Divine Battle began he almost succumbed to the madness of the eldritch entity, but by encasing himself with a metal mask made by Doran of which he requested sensing that he would need it for the future he sealed his mind away from his body so that even if he did fall he wouldn't cause harm to the other Gods. He sat in his domain throughout the Divine Battle struggling within his own mind to fight off the madness before he briefly reclaimed his mind and sent out a few visions of the coming incursion to his followers. While this warning was key to the victory of Centrum against the Incursion it came with a price, Zilos' madness was spread to all of his followers causing many to fall into insanity. Not many of Zilos' followers survived this onset of madness with many causing bodily harm to themselves or attacking their allies either way ending in their death. Of the few that survived they were chiefly the ones that were serving near Doran during the multitude of battles of which he quickly created lesser versions of the metal mask, he crafted for Zilos. The masks trapped the followers within their own minds and would not let them out until they conquered their demons or died trying.

Presently

Since the events of the Divine Battle Zilos, presence has waxed and waned as he constantly tries to fight the madness within himself. His followers are also fighting madness themselves with many donning a ceremonial metal mask to show their allegiance to Zilos and acceptance of the trials they must go through to receive the power that is divination. The madness that plagues the follower of Zilos is different than the sudden onset that struck during the final incursion of The Age of War, the more that his followers accept visions of the future from him the more they expose themselves to the madness still deep inside him. An unfortunate side effect of this madness is that some of his followers are prone to hysterical fits of laughter spontaneously leading many to refer to Zilos as the laughing God. His followers are few compared to that of the other primes, but every power within Centrum desires the wisdom gained from their visions and many a King have or deeply desire a diviner of Zilos as their advisor.

Depiction

Many of the followers of Zilos Masks look identical no matter where they are found.

Commandments

  • The future is what you make it, I show you possible outcomes so that you can change it.
  • We walk a lonely path find companionship where you can, not many can understand why we give ourselves to madness.
  • If you're scared it's ok just keep laughing and I'll show you everything you need to see.

Thurus, The Unknown Protector

This tattoo is always somewhere on the body of his Drow followers, given to them when they come of age.

History

Not much has been recorded about Thurus or more precisely what has been permitted to be recorded about him doesn't amount to much. All that is known is that he is the God of the Night, Assassins, Fear, Revenge, and patron God of the Drow. Before the Divine Battle, he was solely the God of Revenge before claiming his other domains after avenging his brother, Talos, God of Fear who was killed by Vixla Godesess of Night and Assassins. It is rumored that one of the major reasons Centrum was able to repel the final incursion was due to the assassination and fear tactics performed by Thurus. After The Age of War, he led the Drow, a group of elves that had been changed due to the amount of time they were enslaved to serve different creatures from the Abyss, into the Underdark a place he believed would make them strong, at least the ones the survived. The Drow fervently worship Thurus, him being the one to free them from their servitude and easily accepting them as a people while most looked upon them with disdain. The Drow began to enact assassinations against those that served evil powers but hid too well for others to perceive them as a threat.

Presently

Unknown.

Depiction

Of the few reported interactions with Thurus, this is the most agreed-upon artistic rendition of his appearance.

Commandments

  • Show those that believe the Night hides their sins that there is no sanctuary from us.
  • We walk a fine line between light and dark, to cross the line is to set our next target upon yourself.
  • Anything done to the enemy in the name of vengeance is righteous, do not feel sympathy for them.

Doran, The First to Forge

History

Doran is the God of Fire, Rock, Metals, Crafters, and Passion. He is known for the legendary artifacts he forged for the Gods and some of their champions during The Age of War. Little contact has been recorded with him since he usually remains in his domain where he is always pursuing his next project and will only ever provide the briefest comments on the items made by his champions which usually entail master smiths or other crafters that push the limits of their craft. Previously the God of Forging he turned to defend the small village that had always silently forged items in search of his approval with such a fury that he took on the Gods of Fire and Earth during the Divine Battle and came out victorious. After the Divine Battle, he began to practice other forms of craftsmanship with the deaths of all the other craftsman Gods and Goddesses he would take up their practice in remembrance of them. During the final incursion before the end of The Age of War, the village Doran fought so hard to protect was ultimately destroyed along with most of its people. Saddened by this Doran fell into a depression and has since refused to forge anymore Artifacts since then. After the Age of War Doran became patron of the Dwarves, Earth Genasi, and Fire Genasi and lead them to the mountains and taught them the architectural knowledge needed to build cities underground.

Presently

Doran is not heard from by anybody but his most devout followers who still seek to create crafts of such brilliance that they could earn the attention of Doran. It is rumored among the leaders of dwarven societies that there may one day be a smithy of such caliber that Doran would teach them the technique for forging an artifact. He has followers chiefly among all dwarves though many artisans across Centrum also ask for his guidance and blessings when making their craft. The legendary artifacts he forged long ago are mostly lost somewhere in Centrum though a select few leaders of the world possess one, greatly lending to their power and their nation's power.

Depiction

One interpretation of Doran preparing for battle before the final incursion.

Commandments

  • The quality of one's work speaks volumes about their person.
  • Artisans are responsible for what others do with their creations, both for the better and worse.
  • Pursuit of one's passion is admirable though to shed your other responsibilities will only lead to ruin.

Xena, The Loving Light

History

Xena is the Goddess of the Sun, Light, Courage, Life, Summer, the Harvest, and Purity. She was known for her purifying powers to protect her allies and the ability to pierce the most insidious of her foes with her blade Lumen forge rumored to have a small star placed into it by Doran to perfectly aid Xena in combat. She was simply the Goddess of Purity before the Divine Battle before her mother, Drutheia Goddess of Light, and the rest of her family became deranged and began to chase after her. If it was not for Thurus intervening after already having claimed his additional domains Xena would have fallen. Xena and Thurus together were just able to fell Xena's family in which a grieving Xena had to absorb the powers that use to make up her loved ones. Almost falling into complete despair if it was not for Thurus who pointed Xena to the path of vengeance as an outlet Xena might have fallen into something unspeakable. From there on while Xena and Thurus would seem to be natural enemies they do hold a deep respect for each other and their followers have always worked in tandem when the situation calls for it.

Presently

Many call for Xena's blessing whether for bountiful harvests, celebrating the birth of a child, purifying the diseased, her light in the darkness of battle, and many other occasions. Though she is the youngest of the Primes she is known for her intensity in the face of battle and the motherly care she can show to her followers and those they are sworn to protect. Many of her order refer to each other with familial pronouns often calling each other brother and referring to Xena as "The Life Mother" perhaps to remember the family she once lost. Her followers can be found all across Centrum whether they be a warrior, healer, or farmer they seek to spread her loving light everywhere there may be darkness.

Depiction

Many warriors have reported seeing Xena within their dreams or visions of her.

Commandments

  • Accept that many children can stray from the path try to guide them back to the light before ending them in the darkness.
  • To help those in need is the greatest act one can perform.
  • Love each other, we are all children of Centrum.

Idos, The Old Sailor

History

Idos is the God of the Sea, Wind, Storms, and Willpower. He is different from the other Gods in that he is much older than they are and have sailed the seas of Centrum helping mortals when he can since the birth of the world long ago. He is known for taking the form of an old man sailing on a small boat throughout Centrum and is chiefly responsible for the repulsion of the eldritch entitles from the far realm. Idos was once the God of the Ocean and married Greva the Storm Hostess until Greva's mind was beginning to break in front of Idos at the dawn of the Divine Battle. Idos having to choose between possibly helping Greva resist the eldritch entity's maddening power or going to the source to seal it. Idos with golden tears left his beloved to madness and went to stop the terrible creature. After an enormous effort, Idos was able to force the creature back to its realm and massacred those that had conducted the ritual. Idos was forced to take a rest on the floor after the immense amount of power he had to use he was in such a state that when Greva came to him with her mind already altered beyond help he could not lift a finger to defend himself. As Greva went for the death blow on Idos something deep inside her was still able to resist as she quickly turned her spear against herself.

Presently

After the Age of War, Idos became the patron of the Air and Water Genasi tribes that live on the floating world turtles that swim the Southern Sea. He blames himself for the events of the Divine Battle but thankfully does not let that guilt consume him instead using it as a lesson for his followers. All sailors give offerings to Idos for favorable winds and calm seas though his only true followers include the members of the Tidal Legion a group of elite warriors trained by Idos to have the mental fortitude to resist the effects beings from the far realm can have on mortal minds. They are sent all across Centrum to stop eldritch incursions and terminate those misled by their deceptive visions wielding the divine powers of Idos to aid them in their struggle.

Depiction

It is said that the fury of Idos fighting against the entity that sparked the Divine Battle shook the skys and made the oceans standstill.

Commandments

  • To live life is much like the tide it will rise and fall, do not let it break you.
  • Do not believe those who draw power from a suspicious source are no longer mortal minds.
  • The wind will always push you in a direction it is up to you whether you let it take the sail.

Boros, The Collector

History

Boros is the God of Death, Law, Order, Justice, and Balance. They are the great equalizer of Centrum ensuring that every being gets what it deserves in the end. They did not take part in the Divine Battle besides protecting their followers. Boros took over the domain of Order and Law after having to kill the previous God of that domain, Ruara, when she attacked their followers. Bringing the end to The Age of Arcanum by bringing attention to Rezolt the imbalance the users of the arcane were creating in Centrum, they and their followers had since found users of the arcane distasteful and largely untrustworthy. High up in the sky hidden from view lies their flying fortress, The Starm Citadel, where their most devout followers are invited to take rest and where the majority of Centrum's Assaimar population that Boros took with them after the Age of War resides.

Presently

From on high at The Starm Citadel Boros watches and judges those that seek to upset the balance of life and death. They send their followers to hunt those that use necromancy and give insights to the different leaders of the civilizations to ensure that order is maintained. While their followers relentlessly seek to destroy those that practice necromancy those that perform divine magic and revive their companions are overlooked since every revification naturally passes through Boros in which they will see if the soul of the one has done enough to maintain the balance to justify the resurrection.

Depiction

Boros will come for us all, we all see them differently just pray you never see them when they go collect a necromancer's soul.

Commandments

  • Those that affect the cycle deserve their just punishment or reward, do not let either be issued lightly.
  • Do not fear death, instead enjoy life to the fullest and you will not be scared when I have come for you.
  • The world is built in order to resist those who would tear it down from inside or out.

The Fallen

Not all the Gods that fell into madness were killed during the Divine battle, some of the fallen Gods regained enough sanity to stop their mindless rampages. Unfortunately, while some have reclaimed their mind they still harbor an unending hatred for the Primes and their followers. Many have cultic followings around Centrum where their followers scheme the downfall of civilization believing that the Primes had betrayed the Fallen or simply in search of the great power the Fallen can give to their champions.

Vanir, The Blood Host

History

Vanir is the God of Blood, War, Demons, and Hate. He having already been disliked by most of the Primes even before falling into madness allowed him to channel his hate when he was rampaging and eventually control his anger. During the Divine Battle, he killed many of the Gods, including the Goddess of Love Rana who was powerless before his sudden onslaught. After the Divine Battle Vanir having been able to channel his hatred for such an extended period of time heightened his powers to the point that he was able to break the influence controlling him. Shortly after the final battle before the end of The Age of War Vanir traveled to the Abyss and killed a vastly weakened Orcus claiming his realm for himself. From then on he was the Demon Lord Vanir who commanded many demons and mortals alike both seeking Centrum's end.

Presently

The Bloodsworn can be found all across Centrum waging war and spilling blood wherever they can. From what can be observed it seems despite the barbaric appearance outwardly the larger groups do in fact follow a sort of hierarchy. Out of all the worshippers of evil powers, many do bind demons to their will as demonic muscle it is only the Bloodsworn that work the most in tandem with entities from the Abyss as they both serve the same master. Accomplished leaders of the Bloodsworn are often granted powerful demons as tools to continue their bloody work. These leaders are often of extreme martial prowess and the most dangerous ones have a great mind for battle. These leaders have hemomancers that serve as their religious advisors who also manage the barbarians that make up the majority of their armies and work to keep them in line for those who do not listen make great blood sacrifices.

Depiction

Vanir sits on the old throne of Orcus still covered in his blood from the day he slew him.

Commandments

  • Glory in Destruction.
  • Kill the followers of the Primes they are weak with me you are Strong.
  • Strength and Honor. In Life and Death.

Deulla, The Dreaming Void

History

Deulla is the Goddess of Dreams. She was not well known or worshipped in Centrum due to her domain being slightly obscure compared to the other Gods and Goddesses. Before the events that sparked the Divine Battle, Deulla was in a permanent state of sleep though throughout The Age of War she gave a massive helping hand to the armies that accompanied her champions with them not needing more than 2-4 hours of sleep each night to feel more than well-rested they were able to keep up with the extraplanar in battles of attrition. When the Divine Battle began she was part of the number of Gods that fell into madness though she being asleep at the time was still not roused from her slumber. When Idos came to banish the Eldritch beings back to the void three of them managed to flee and escape into Deulla's dream. Idos was not able to follow into Deulla's dream where she held ultimate power so instead, he sealed her body away somewhere in Centrum to prevent others from getting too close to her dreams. Since the end of the Divine Battle Idos and his followers are constantly fighting back those misled by the dreams of nothingness that find some inhabitants of Centrum.

Presently

There are no known followers of Deulla for she is now a vessel for the three beings that hide within her dream to trick mortals into believing them to be their saviors or give offerings of great power though they only seek to bring Centrum into the void of Deulla's dream. The followers of the three beings do not build armies or forces of war, instead opting to grant their followers mind manipulating powers to infiltrate different powerful organizations for unknown reasons.

Depiction

The things within Deulla's dream mask their forms to not break the minds of their followers.
