Stitcher

Steady Hands

Blood soaked rags litter the operating table as the Stitcher stands upright from her hunch. She wipes the sweat from her brow and places her needle into the cleansing solution with the other blood caked tools of her trade. It was touch and go for a moment there, but ultimately she looks over her work and nods in satisfaction. Now for the last part of the procedure, the ritual. Speaking in a forgotten tongue, crafting arcane runes with the precise, steady movements, she finishes the ritual and waits in anticipation for it to take effect.   Silence   She exhales loudly in relief as a spasm, then a twitch, and then blinking eyes, success. A tentacle whips through the air lashing at the smiling face of the Stitcher, but is stopped short of its target by a manacle tethering it to the floor. The creature panics and begins to thrash against its constraints, but it's no use. The Stitcher setps back to the wall and loosens a rope, which drops a cloth from above the operating table, revealing a glistening mirror. The creature, which was once Kynd, looks upon the monstrosity they have become and tries to scream. A gargling wail eminates from the gnashing maw it now must use as it's mouth and the creature's mind shatters, raging into insanity at the loss of it's body and the terror it has become.

Makers of Monstrosities

Most were once clerics, healers, or surgeons, but instead of using their talents to mend the wounded they take up the mantle of Stitcher and become monster makers. Through surgical and arcane means, they assemble parts of various entities together to create new and horrible creatures. This practice is widely outlawed (in places where there are laws to begin with) so those with the talent and lack of empathy to become Stitchers will often lead double lives, secretly Stitching in hidden basements, abandoned caves, or pocket dimension laboratories, letting loose their creations to terrorize the world, selling them to the highest bidder, or keeping them as deranged pets or guards.
