Nuzro coming of age ceremony

On Lafliuton the elves in the north east coast are called the Nuzro. They have many varied traditions which they have incorporated from the shifter kingdom close by.   Nuzro’s coming of age ceremony however is all their own and a few shifter villages have started incorporating it into their own ceremonies. This is also not different between girls or boys they go through the same ceremony.   The Nuzro coming of age ceremony starts when the child has hit the age of 10. That is when the family and child look for an apprenticeship. These apprenticeships cover every profession including the less wanted ones such as farmers, teachers, copier (one that copies the books for the libraries and other documents for officials.). These apprenticeships last between 10 to 15 years depending on the profession. Some would see this as being locked into one thing for life however that is not how the Nuzro see it. Most Nuzro look at this apprenticeship as their first. They look at it as an opportunity to learn and are well known for taking more apprenticeships through out their lives. Finishing this first apprenticeship is the first part of completing their coming of age ceremony. It shows to the community that they are willing to learn and want to take the time to do so. Now once the first apprenticeship is done they return to their family for a week of celebration before the next part starts. At the end of the week of celebration the youth boy or girl is sent off to a special village. There are two of these villages, one is comprised of all women, and those becoming men. The second is comprised of Men and those becoming women. They are sent here for a month to learn and understand the opposite gender. What they go through, the medical challenges and social obligations. These two villages work together however the ones doing the ceremony do not see or talk to one of their own gender for that whole month. There are three rules. First the youth is to not speak to one of their own gender for the full month. Second is no sexual relations of any kind may happen. There however can be discussion of but no sex. Third no drinking of alcohol.   Once the end of the month has been reached they are returned to their families and there is an all day and night celebration. At this celebration is also the first time the youth would have the opportunity to have Ian Noir a very mild alcoholic drink from Owhua. After the celebration the next morning at sunrise the family see the youth to their new home. At the door each elder family member gives the newly man or woman a gift then leave. They are now set on their own and considered a full adult. They can now find a mate, participate in the government, and travel.
