Ulrok Flamefists

The Forgeheart

Ulrok is the God of Smiths of all kinds, from the most humble blacksmith to the the master bladesmith. He forms one Godhead of the Triumvirate of the Crafts, alongside Thingy and Thangy. Ulrok is honored by the dwarves as one of the Ancestor Gods, to them he is a dwarven smith of divine skill, who was raised to Godhood in recognition. Traditional theological circles however dismiss this, instead claiming Ulrok to be formed from the Divine Veil, embodying the ultimate ideal of smiths. Arguments over such origins are often heated, and sometimes come to blows.   Regardless of his Origins, Ulrok is almost always depicted as a dwarf, fists glowing with heat and with eyes like smoldering coals. Ulrok rarely marks his Chosen, bestowing flaming fists upon them. Those flames are harmless and heatless, until they are used to heat metal for forging. A rare few Chosen, known amongst Ulrokian worshippers as the Forgeborne, and able to heat, forge and shape only using their flaming hands. The arrival of a Forgeborne to a Temple to Ulrok - which usual are large smithies - is a event worth seeing. The Masters at the Temple view the presence of the Forgeborne as a sign that Ulrok's eye is upon them. A competition of craft is declared, each Priest striving to prove his skill in front of their God.

The forgefires burn high all night long, and chanting songs to Ulrok pour out of Temple doors. Outside, a replica forgefire provides heat and light for any folk wishing to celebrate, and food and ale is provided for all.
