Tristan the Redeemed
Ser Tristan Dunharrow
Tristan was the firstborn son of Albrecht Dunharrow, a lesser known knight in King Anheg's court. Though a competent knight in his youth, Albrecht slowly gambled away what wealth he had, and drank away the rest. Tristan, though of noble blood, was born in a 2 room house in a shady area of the city. Despite his poor upbringing, Tristan was well liked, both by his nieghbours and those members of the court who occasionally looked on Albrecht. One of these family friends, Hamelin Regnier, noticed Tristan's potential as he scrapped with his friends, and sponsored him to be trained as a knight. Tristan became a page to Ser Erik Ontaran, a Esotvan knight, and travelled the land with him, attending competition after competition, and learning the skills and ideals of Knighthood. After several years of this, Ser Ontaran returned to Arendia, and informed Hamelin Regnier that Tristan was ready to take his vows. Tristan Dunharrow then became Ser Tristan, and soon became known as an exemplary knight, well spoken, well mannered, skilled at sword, lance and even dance. Over the coming years, many young ladies at court swooned over Tristan, but none were able to catch the young knight.
Tristan's reputation was dashed however, when city guards found him in a dark alley, a Prelan Harding, a priest of Vita, dead at his feet and his sword splashed with blood. Ser Tristan was hauled before King Laron, was found guilty, and stripped of his rank. Tristan Dunharrow once more, and in a worse situation then any he had been in before. He managed to find work as a sellsword, occasionally as a gladiator, but of the many nobles he entreated to meet with him, few accepted, and those few were unable to do anything but give him a small pitance of money to ease his situation.
Tristan Dunharrow toiled away, a noble man forced to sweat with the dregs of society, putting his very body on the line to feed himself a crust. The universe however decided that Tristan had suffered enough. A witness came forth, a scared young woman who had seen that fateful night from her room above the alley. She claimed that Tristan had fearless intervened to save the deceased noble, injuring, though not slaying, three of the assailants before more had swarmed out of the darkness. Upon hearing of the approaching guardsmen, the criminals had seized their wounded and left, leaving Tristan to be wrongfully condemned for murder. The witness said she had kept the information back, scared of reprisal from the gang, but her conscious could not stand the guilt any longer. An investigation was ordered by the King, and the woman's story was proven true.
Ser Tristan was welcomed back to court, his titles and properties reinstated. Many of the nobility expected him to resent them, for the way he had been treated, but like a true knight, Ser Tristan publically forgave all involved in the affair. He paid a generous sum to the courageous witness, and pledged to protect her from the gang. Since his reinstatement, Ser Tristan has aided the city guard multiple times in disrupting the activities of the city's underworld, helping arrest several major gangs.
