Mechanica

Mechanica, or The City of Gears, is the labyrinthine home to the Tinkers - or City Gnomes as they are more widely known. The City slowly revolves, ticking through out the day. There are no streets, instead each building is built upon a single cog in the vast engine that forms the city. It's streets are patrolled by Cogswalk Guards. A large bang and the windows being blown out of a house is a common occurance, not even worth commenting upon as it's inquisitive inhabitants experiment goes catastrophically wrong. The wonders of Mechanica are spoken of across the world - though few believe in uncorruptible guards of steel, of flamethrowing hats or shoes that allow you to breath underwater. In the dark seedy dens of Syrica, people mutter over mugs of ale - If they all make cog stuff for random things, what does their city do?

Demographics

Mechanica has an overwhelming majority of Tinkers - few other people can stand its confusing schedule of movement, the constant whirring of gears and engines, not to mention the eccentricities of it's inhabitants. The Sun Empire of Nepthysis maintains a standing embassy, on the outskirts of the city, and those that work there make the single largest enclave of non-Tinkers in the city. Most others are travelling adventurers, or merchants purchasing rare cogworks to flog in less alienating parts of the world.

Government

Mechanica is run by a Council of Thirty Three Guild Heads. The most prominent of these is the Guild of Transport and Public Works, due to their control over the City's rotations, though the Guilds of Archimannerings, Retrograde Effluentifics and Crysillomatic Bindings all have significant sway over the council.

Infrastructure

Mechanica sits on the delta of the River Kleothine, which runs out of the Nepthysian Desert.
