Elan

I'm no hero. All I do is try to make up for all the pain we caused them, you know? But here I am, just showing up and doing what needs done, and this happens. I'm terrified they're going to find out you're really a dragon and I'm your rider and then where will we be?

Elan is becoming more known throughout Alexi as a traveler who helps each town he passes through to recover from the wars with the dragons of the Southern Lands, along with his "sister", Ari. Some call him a hero, but he doesn't consider himself one and is surprised every time it is mentioned.

While not a traditional hero like in legends, Elan is known as someone who will step up to take care of a problem when no one else will. He is the person young children look to as a role model, even though they barely know him.

The fact that the people of Alexi barely know him is by far what makes Elan most uncomfortable about the title being used to describe him. His biggest secret is that he is one of the dragon riders of the Southern Lands and, along with his partner Ari, brought the riders to Alexi in an effort to settle the war between the two countries. This resulted in the destruction of many cities and towns, more deaths than anyone could count, and his exile when Alexi did not produce the weapon that he had sworn they had.

With Elan's exile, he swore to repair as much of the damage to the innocent people of Alexi as he could. He knew he couldn't bring anyone back and they would have to deal with those losses, but he could help them rebuild as much as possible. Just as long as no one found out where he was from and why he was being so "heroic", at least.
