Fool's Rock
Carminia's Fourth Largest Port City
Fool's Rock gets its name from its most recognizable landmark: a towering rock pillar jutting from the ground in the heart of the city. The rock itself is so named because of the city's ancient tradition of selecting a mayor.
Every 10 years, the citizens of Fool's Rock gather at the base of the monolith and watch the mayoral candidates ascend the steep, narrow path to the top, then attempt to throw one another to the ground below. The last one standing atop the rock is the new mayor of the city.
In ancient times, this was a lethal contest, though in modern days a wide area at the base of the rock is heavily padded, and injuries more severe than a broken limb are rare.
