The Coronation of the Heir
This coronation is the first of two a prince or princess will have in their lifetime. It crowns them the heir to the throne of Isendree and changes their title to crown prince or princess. Heirs in the Isendreen royal family are chosen rather than heirship being their birthright. This is very uncommon amongst the general populace but many members of the nobility and upper classes have begun to follow suit.
History
This tradition was started when the House of Inosentia took over governing Isendree in 590 AnCog. While this change did not go over well at the beginning, the country had had a lot of succession issues during that time and the promise that these issues would stop with the advent of this new tradition convinced the people that this was a brilliant idea. Since the start of this tradition, Isendree has had very few succession crises. Of the few crises they have had since the start of this tradition, most of them have been the result of the monarch waiting too long before choosing an heir and then dying suddenly.
Observance
Once king or queen has chosen their heir, the heir is notified and travels to the capital. Upon their arrival, the monarch will announce to the nation who their heir will be. This announcement kicks of the preparations for the ceremony itself, and the following ceremonies. These preparations can take anywhere from a week to a month, but they must be completed in time for the next new moon, which is when the ceremony always takes place.
The ceremony itself is mainly for show and does not do much other than make the heirship officially official. After the ceremony, there is a huge party, typically a ball where the aristocracy can meet and mingle with the heir. This is very important as the heir is regularly new to Kiaran upper class society.
