Not All Meters Burn Up

This scary fact that you can be blown away at anytime is the bomb threat hanging above all Carethians heads. The forces of the skies and the earth colliding is a great natural disaster that not even the might of the dragons or the magicians can stop; they can only help in the containment and clean up afterwards. It is for this reason that in Draco there are warning bells in every city, and there is Child of the Sky on watch day and night, if someone spots a streak of light in the sky, they will ring the alarm bells and people will drop everything they are doing and run toward the nearest safety den. These are built every 20 buildings, and unlike the shallow sleeping dens these safety den go deep into the earth. 80 feet below ground level all these entrances lead out to a central area for each town, this is to guaranty that even if a few tunnels collapse with the force of a nearby hit they will be a way to emerge. There is on average an asteroid hit every 35 years. But the last asteroid hit in the state of Draco 52 years ago. It hit 600 acres from the solstice village, and so caused a lot of livestock damage; luckily the fire afterwards was put out before too much of forest was destroyed. The dragons are more likely to withstand the force of impact, but their young are not, and so when the bells sound the dragons take to the sea to help the merman herd changelings off the land and the swimming pools to deep on the oceans floor. and protect them from sea dragons.

Manifestation

A asteroid starts its descent looking like a pail version of a shooting star, but the light soon is so bright it is almost blinding, if a creature is near enough to be blinding it is likely to be dead in a few moments, so spotting these pail streaks of light in the sky are essential, and so more death happens when a meter passes close to the sun and lands on Carethian during daylight hours.
