Dreng lands are far to the north, a cold, though not barren land. Tall mountains, deep fjords and ice sheets dominate the landscape. The land is mostly ruled by clans of Dreng who elect their rulers in the form of jarls, and, in more recent years, a high King. Their society is one that values individual freedom and initiative. Most spend their lives working as farmers or craftsmen, some take time during the summer months to raid in the south, either human or elven territory. Dreng hold great respect for their elders and for their gods, whom they have many of, and in particular have a long standing tradition of storytelling, with the skalds inspiring the young ones to forge their own legends. They consider themselves a warrior race, though combat inside their society is rare. Limited to ceremonial duels with strict rules and laws, their raiding serves as an outlet to this spirit, as well as a way to earn an honorable death. Dreng as a people are slow to trust, and to many outsiders their brutish appearance and abundance of stereotypes may lead one to believe that they’re slow of intellect as well. However, as with any people, they have some that are higher than others, and don’t seem to be any more or less intelligent than any other race. They tend to be hard working, with close family relations, and, though standoffish, are rather open and welcoming. They make for loyal friends and strong companions.
