The Royal Coast Coalition is hanging together only by few remaining threads in the face of inner conflict. A union of countries originally conceived to be the shining beacon of civilized society, cultural progress, and technological advancement. The central root for a worldwide revolution of industry and agriculture, with massive factories producing goods the likes of which had never seen before, incredibly complex machines and contraptions perfecting the manufacture of these goods while providing many with occupation and the means to feed their families no matter their living conditions. All now just another stage for an international concert. The chessboard of petty kings ready to sacrifice their pawns.   But even then it is not the royal crowns pulling the real strings in the background. Now, that would be the Guilds. Six companies who have crushed the competition and have made their business absolute monopoly wherever they come and set up shop. All despising the other and working tooth and nail to ensure that they are the one who emerges in complete control of the Coalition through destroying the competition, or through corporate takeover. But to do that, all Guilds are in an arms race to find and produce the best kind of Magics in order to get ahead and secure dominance. Whether this be the development of new disciplines entirely such as the Blue Palace Guild's mirror magics, or even the discovery of magic artifacts and tech within lost, ancient dungeons deep below the earth.   Though, there are other methods of magic which even the Guilds so rarely touch. The power of the Undead, who rise up and replace their old living lives with brand new ones. Or the Grusel, a subspecies of human with each one baring an obsessive curse which takes over their lives and causes their bodies to produce a natural magic ability to help them cope, each one different from the other. Both groups deal with hatred and decriminalization from the majority of the population, as well as from each other. While the Grusel are too independent to ever find true peace, the Undead classify themselves as one, united people... even if they also share the need to discriminate each other.   Be it the racial tension of the Undead, or lives of individual Grusel living with their curses. Be it the secret, proxy Dungeon Wars between the Guilds or the corporate espionage that goes on in each Guild's homelands. Assassination, war, disease, and murder in the cold dead of night. It is all just a reminder that all pawns in the concert of the RCC and simply one thing to their chessmasters and kings.   Cannonfodder.
