Loradove

Rune Knight

Loradove is a member of the Candlekeep Adventuring Party and a strong fighter and mind.

Pre-Campaign

Loradove grew up in Darkhold Vale in the Sunset Mountains. She was raised by her parents, two lovely librarians, and helped them with work around the place.   One day, while tending to her parents library, Rune came in looking for a Giant-Common translation guide. They fell into a conversation about why it was necessary, and she learned that Rune was an archeologist working at a dig nearby investigating some old Giant ruins. The only person of their team who spoke Giant was not able to make it to this one, and somehow, despite all their preparations, none of them had noticed that no one else spoke Giant until it was too late. Rune was looking for a simple guide so that they might be able to do some work while they called in a translator from Waterdeep. Loradove, who spoke Giant, offered her assistance instead.   After several months of working together, growing closer and uncovering pieces of these ruins, the team uncovered several strange runes that seemed to hold some sort of old magic. Loradove was intrigued by these runes and began research them, trying to understand their power.   Eventually, Rune’s group was finished with their excavation, and they parted ways with Loradove, but they had become close enough over their time together that they continued to send each other letters.   Sometime later, Loradove's family library burnt down.   Several years later, though their letters, Rune and Loradove agreed to meet up at the great library Candlekeep, to catch up and help each other with each other’s research.

Campaign

(Sessionx09)   Loradove has a dream about the night her family's library burnt down. In the dream, she is placed within a distance of the fire that should harm her, but she is not burnt, she only feels uncomfortably hot. As she attempts to interact with the space around her, she discovers that while looking solid, it seems that her form is incorporeal and passes through solid objects.   She spots a shadowy figure out of the corner of her eye and tries to watch them from a distance. As they step out of the shadows, she sees a figure with red skin, silver looking scale mail with black leather accents with alterations to account for two red, leathery wings that stick out of their back, a black face covering, two beautiful shortswords inscribed with Infernal runes, and black hair pulled back into a long braid.   She sees the figure read off of a scroll and watches as the scroll turns to dust in their hands as blue flames begin to coat their arms although the flames do not harm them. They move towards her father's office and blast the door away with a wash of blue fire. She can hear the sounds of shuffling papers as she approaches and then the sound of something heavy being pushed to the side.   She peers around the doorway to see the figure pulling a large, heavy looking, blue leather-bound book out from the space behind her father's bookshelf, then disappearing. The ceiling then collapses around her and she wakes up.   Later that day, she manages to identify Saeth , as the man in her dreams, as his disguise spell has fallen away. Worried about the consequences of dealing with him, she tells Rune about her dream. Rune agrees that they shouldn't trust him and tells Loradove that she will tell her more later when they're alone.
