Zathriel, the Sword of J'honsa

Called 'The Sword of J'honsa' Zathriel is the HighFather's Archangel and Commander of his Heavenly Host. A fearsome, angelic presence who appears before mortals as a towering knight with vast white-feathered wings, the mere sight of him spreads fear in the heart of any evildoer.
Although he is "merely" an Archangel and not one of the Divines, there are those in the Basin who pray to him, asking favors and offering themselves and their services up in exchange for power.
While Zathriel doesn't boast many followers, they are among the most powerful healers in the whole of the Basin, and before the tiny province of Brom was destroyed, the Bromin Monks who tended to the rare Moon Lillies that grew there were all members of the Cult of Zathriel.
Sadly, their numbers have never recovered since the destruction of Brom. Even so, if you encounter a Warlock in the service of Mighty Zathriel, you travel in good company indeed.

Joining the Cult of Zathriel

Sometimes, even Archangels need a helping hand. Trusted emissaries to enforce his will and bring ruin upon the enemies of civilization. As the HighFather is the dominant divine power in the Basin, it should come as no surprise that Zathriel has no shortage of aspirants seeking his counsel. He selects only the best of the best and the bravest of the brave.
While he and his aspirants can be uncompromising, they are a fair bit more flexible than the utterly unyielding followers of the HighFather himself. The nature of Zathriel’s role simply demands a greater degree of flexibility and he absolutely understands this. Thus, he doesn’t ask for the same level of perfection and near-masochism that the HighFather demands. Only that those he becomes a Patron to are true and earnest and act from a genuine desire to leave the world better than they found it.
The stories hold that those who seek Patronage from Zathriel must protect an innocent or prevent an injustice while invoking the Archangel’s name, then meditate on the deed unencumbered and unclothed atop the highest hill in the region and present an offering of incense and a drop of the Supplicant’s own blood during the blackest part of the night of a New Moon. If the deed and the offering are deemed worthy, and the aspirant’s heart is true, an emissary of Zathriel will appear.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Nearly all of Zathriel's goals are extensions of J'honsa's goals. If the HighFather gives him a task, he may seek the aid of his Supplicants to see it done. On very rare occasions, however, Zathriel has an agenda that exists independently of his Master.
He is completely devoted to J'honsa, so these aims and goals never run counter to the ultimate desires of the HighFather, but Zathriel isn't an unthinking robot. He does have his own wishes and desires and every once in a while, he allows himself to act on them.

Zathriel positively towers over every other member of the Pantheon and he radiates Divine power. Most mortals who see him fall to their knees and simply begin weeping, and can barely remember the encounter afterward. His vast wings and golden aura radiate out from him, wrapping all who are near in an ethereal embrace.
