Day 2
We have been escorted to a magnificent city at the center of the Realm, one where all seven kingdoms meet. Each sector of the city is different depending on which kingdom it belongs to: both the mountain and cavern realms use stone in their building, which the forests are not unlike the home of the elves. There is always faint music playing in the air: soothing reeds for the rivers and lakes, and tenacious strings for the windswept grasslands. Oh, how beautiful it is here! And at the center of the city is the grand Fortress of the fae, a place where the kings and queens and nobles converse with each other about the welfare of the realm. That is where we have been taken. Tomorrow we dine with the rulers of the realm. I shall not be able to sleep tonight.
Day 9
We have been feasting and conversing with the kings and queens for many days now. The fae vary depending on what kingdom they are from. Some of them are tall and graceful and prefer to eat the fruits and greens. They sing soft songs of peace and happiness and dress simply but elegantly. Others are smaller and stronger, with elaborate clothing and richly dressed food. They sing of glory and of riches and prosperity. All, however, are wise and powerful.
Day 18
Perhaps I should be recording more of my experiences, and especially writing down all there is to know about the culture and ways of the Fae. That will come in time, and I shall probably write in a different book than this. Suffice it to say that the fae are a mysterious people, and while they are welcoming and friendly, prefer to speak more about us and our world rather than their own people.
Day 24
Today I met a fairy. From what it sounds like most Fae can take the form of a fairy or something like it, but fairies are not Fae. They are as large as my hand, with wide, thin wings and long, flowing hair. Individual fairies specialize in a certain area of magic but are always quite adept at it. This particular one was an elemental fairy and could manipulate water. She showed me a few tricks, smiled at my praise, and flew off. I hope to meet more.
"I thought it was a dream. The mountain shimmered in the light, and then we stepped through, and we were in another place entirely. It was beautiful. Right away, we could feel the aura of power. Chimes rang in the distance. This was a place of magic. Even now, I remember the trip perfectly. I think a part of me will always long to return."
