Cuz He Knows I'm Alone

A snippet based on Sex With A Ghost by Teddy Hyde

Icarus wasn’t sure when he started seeing them. Seeing the voices, that was. They had been present for some time, becoming apparent after he had killed, slaughtered, butchered Sisyphus.

But they were everywhere now. He was seeing them in the corners of his vision, in the space between the door and the wall, in the inky depths of his closet. They were a blurred nuisance in his vision everywhere he went.

The worst, though, was when he was looking in the mirror. That was when it was the clearest. When the dark blurs that clung to the edges of his vision took their true form and made eye contact with him through the reflection.

He could see the ink-black abomination trying to speak. Even with how far it was from him, Icarus could hear the whisper of words. When he tried to listen and make out what it was saying, though, it made his ears hurt.

His heart was pounding, blood rushing through his head as he fought to keep his sanity. He could see the creature cock its head to the side as a disgusting and malformed grin crept across its face.

“I need a break, maybe I’ll take five. Fuck it, I need medication and then maybe I’ll take five.” His voice trailed off as the creature took a step forward.
