Bolrok

The Bolrok are a beast-like race that are believed to have been birthed by a Dormant Primordial in central Sendyn several millennia ago. Unlike the Fey, the Bolrok tended not to spread as much across the land and mostly settled within central and southern Caldarra. Within common languages the males are known as Rams and the females as Ewes.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Bolrok stand between 6 and seven and a half feet tall and posses very large muscled frames that make them capable of great feats of strength and athletics. Their bodies are completely covered in a short, thick fur that comes in shades of brown, black and grey. Their small oval eyes are usually brown or amber in colour but black eyes have also been seen in rare cases. Their more bestial features include their hoofed feet, muzzles with slitted sinuses, and the great curled horns that adorn their heads. For Rams these horns are particularly prominent; growing to such a size and weight (sometimes as much as 30lbs) that they can shatter bones from a single headbutt. These horns come at a cost however: their considerable weight can often become too heavy for older Rams resulting in an earlier death for those too prideful to have them removed.

Growth Rate & Stages

Bolrok children are known as Lambs and develop a thick coat of wool during their childhood which they will begin shedding as they enter adolescence. Only once this woolen coat is fully shed, a process that takes between 13 and 16 years, will a Lamb be truly considered a grown Ram or a Ewe. During this time a Lamb will also see their high-pitched voice begin to crack and transition into a much more gravelly tone. Bolrok can live to up to 90 years assuming they do not succumb to the weight of their horns.

Dietary Needs and Habits

With their flat teeth Bolrok diet tends to consist largely of plants and vegetables. They will also include eggs, fish and insects when the environment allows. It is generally seen as distasteful for Bolrok to consume the flesh of livestock due to them being seen as belonging to The Great Ram's flock.

Civilization and Culture

Common Etiquette Rules

Whilst the Bolrok have a resemblance to a more primitive species of beasts in Caldarra it is considered extremely offensive to directly make this comparison. They are their own Folk with intelligence, awareness, society, and faith and to suggest otherwise is to slight them as a whole.
