The Battle of Then Dorahl
For one month we marched north-east to the mines of Then Dorahl. A company of 1,000 foot soliders took part in the march. At Lambert's Crossing we waited for supporting forces from Yarrin and Ripponfield. In total, 1,732 soldiers took part in the war against the treacherous dwarves. Upon arrival at the mines scouts found no sign of strong defences and quickly took out their sentries. I personally lead the charge into the mines, and cut down many of the short creatures. The battle was bloody, and the battle was fast. They quickly retreated deeper down the mines and barricaded themselves in where they remained for near a day before surrendering. We allowed them to leave the mines, and told them to leave the lands.- Captain Torben Cadwell
The Conflict
Prelude
Following the dwarves being driven to mountains by the humans, they had begun to tunnel into the mountains to give themselves more space. However, not all dwarves were happy living in the mines, and instead chose to live in the cities of men. They faced oppression in the cities due to their stature and heritage, and returned to the mines. After realising the wealth the dwarves had in the mountains, they took it for themselves and returned to the cities, using their wealth to gain influence and prestige. Duke of Dalmore demanded to know where the sudden wealth had come from, and after getting a young dwarf well inebriated, one of his men managed to garner information about the wealth in the mines. Humans claimed that dwarves had stolen riches from the land and were hoarding it for themselves, and sent word to the surrounding settlements telling of the betrayal of the dwarves. Once prepared, they marched on the unsuspecting dwarves.
